(Niagara Falls, ON) May 26, 2016 – Upgrading to energy-efficient lighting has earned Niagara Casinos the Greatest Greenhouse Gas Reduction Award from the Niagara Sustainability Initiative (NSI).

The award, which was presented at NSI’s 5th annual Evening of Recognition on Tuesday, May 24, credits the casinos’ achievement in reducing its lighting energy consumption and absolute carbon dioxide (CO2)-equivalent emissions by 736 tonnes between 2014 and 2015.

The innovative Women Build program promotes the involvement of women in the construction of Habitat homes by hosting build projects with the majority of the planning and execution undertaken by women volunteers.

The announcement was made at the 25th annual Good News Breakfast and rounds out the casinos’ year of corporate giving, which totaled nearly $1 million in sponsorships and donations.
