(Niagara Falls, ON) May 30, 2023 – The Avalon Theatre has announced two incredible acts that you don’t want to miss – comedy star Anjelah Johnson-Reyes on September 29, followed by three-time Grammy Award-winner Sergio Mendes on October 2-4.

“Anjelah Johnson-Reyes and Sergio Mendes have both accomplished so much, and we are looking forward to welcoming Johnson-Reyes in September and Mendes in October,” says Cathy Price, Vice President of Marketing at Niagara Casinos. “Through Johnson-Reyes’ self-deprecating humour and Mendes’ compelling music, both create a sense of joy that is irresistible. There is always something fresh and thrilling going on at Fallsview Casino”.

Anjelah Johnson-Reyes soared to fame after her viral video “Nail Salon”, which led to several opportunities in stand-up comedy, television, and film. She has guest starred on several shows such as The Shield, Ugly Betty, and Curb Your Enthusiasm and has starred in such films as Our Family Wedding, Enough Said, The Resurrection of Gavin Stove, and Mom’s Night Out.

Over the course of his illustrious career, Brazilian singer and songwriter Sergio Mendes has recorded more than 35 studio albums, many of which have achieved gold or platinum status. Mendes pioneered his music from the foundations of bossa nova with the likes of Antonio Carlos Jobim and the iconic group Brasil ’66, a group that defined the era of Latin-pop. His collaborations with jazz legends Cannonball Adderley and Herbie Mann helped Mendes create the chart-topping adult contemporary hit “Never Gonna Let You Go,” and the Oscar-nominated theme song “Real in Rio” from the animated hit film Rio.

“I assure you that you won’t want to miss these two performances at the Avalon Theatre”, says Price. “The warm setting, state-of-the-art sound, and seats no further than 100 feet from the stage make it an excellent choice for a night out”.
